“[DI has] taught me everything I need to know about having a good work ethic, being on time, customer service—just everything I need to know about working. And now I’m moving on to a new step in life, and I’m super excited about it,” says Jorge, a DI associate who is preparing to start a new job soon.
“I couldn’t be more grateful for [Deseret Industries]. … It’s a great place to learn. … I would recommend it to anybody.”
Over the last year and half that Jorge has spent at Deseret Industries, he has taken advantage of every learning opportunity he could—getting his driver’s license, taking job search skills classes, and cultivating the skills that make a good employee. And now, Jorge is ready to step into a new job and find success.
In Jorge’s new job, he’ll be selling vintage clothing and shoes at a clothing store. “That’s always been a passion of mine—I’ve always loved DI, and I loved coming to thrift, picking out vintage clothing at the DI, so it’ll be perfect,” he says. In the future, he hopes to manage a team and run his own business.
“If you come to [work at] DI, take advantage of what they have to offer. Get the most you can out of it; get prepared for that next step in life. If you take advantage of it, you’ll get a lot out of it,” says Jorge.
