Meet Elaine & Maree: Associate Profiles
Elaine and Maree, coworkers and friends since high school, have plans to catch a movie tonight. “I’m more into super hero movies,” Maree says. “Elaine likes kung fu flicks.” But first there’s work to be done. As Deseret Industries “veterans,” each with more than a year of experience, they help show newer hires the ropes. Today they’re training associates at the registers.
Maree would like to open her own bookstore someday. Elaine’s dream is to work in the music industry—she has chops on the ukulele and the piano—but administrative assistant is her backup plan. Both are taking business classes with assistance from DI.
“I’m usually the shy person that’s very closed in a box,” Elaine says. “Working here has helped me to speak out more. It’s definitely made me feel more confident.”
