When Maddisyn first began her job search, she couldn’t seem to catch a break. 

“Every job that I tried ignored my applications or sent me a rejection,” Maddisyn recalls. “I kept looking, but it gave me anxiety. I didn’t want to turn in applications.” 

Despite these setbacks, Maddisyn remained determined, and her persistence ultimately paid off. 

“My dad sent me information about working at Deseret Industries,” Maddisyn recalls. “DI had me do the same thing with an application. I was anxious about that, but I was able to get this job.” 

This initial success marked the beginning of a transformative journey for Maddisyn. Looking back, she can now see how much she has grown—not only in her confidence but also in her skills. 

“Working at DI has been really good,” Maddisyn says. “It has helped me get over a lot of my anxiety. I’m able to talk more than I used to, and DI has given me something to do and something to improve.”

The DI job training program teaches associates like Maddisyn important workplace behaviors, including teamwork, professionalism, and dependability. Associates also set goals through the program to help them prepare for future employment opportunities. 

For Maddisyn, setting goals has been a pivotal part of her growth. 

“I made a goal to be more outgoing and get my confidence to talk,” Maddisyn says. “I have improved.” 

Maddisyn is grateful for the chance she has to work in a collaborative environment focused on personal and professional development. She has appreciated working with operational supervisors and other DI associates. 

“My favorite part of working here has been getting to know my coworkers,” Maddisyn says. “I have been treated very well.”
