How Janice is Embracing Opportunities at Deseret Industries

When Janice was looking for a job, her aunt knew just the place. She had been working as an associate at Deseret Industries and was confident that the DI job training program would be a great fit for Janice.

Her aunt was right.

Now that Janice is an associate herself, she is using the opportunity to grow as an employee. For example, Janice has been able to regularly practice and improve her people skills while working on the retail floor and at the cash registers.

“I have learned a lot about customer service,” Janice says.

Janice has also taken advantage of other opportunities available through DI. She received financial assistance to complete her GED and is currently working toward obtaining her driver’s license. Additionally, Janice regularly meets with a development counselor who is helping her set career goals.

“I want to be a flight attendant,” Janice says.

In the meantime, Janice is focused on how she can contribute in her current role at Deseret Industries.

“I try my best to do whatever is good for the store,” Janice says.

One way Janice makes an impact is by inspiring her team members. She constantly looks for opportunities to help her fellow associates and teach them new skills.

“I love being part of a team,” Janice says. “My team members are the best.”

Janice says that her favorite part of being a DI associate is learning new things.

“DI has helped me with a lot,” Janice says. “Working here has made me more mature. I have learned how to be responsible.”

You can support associates like Janice by shopping at your local Deseret Industries. The proceeds from every DI purchase are used to help our associates learn important workplace skills and behaviors.
