As a single mom of three, Ashavett came to DI to finish her education and get a better job to support her family. Her long-term goal is to become a nurse, so she’s starting off with becoming a medical assistant. With the help of DI, Ashavett began classes a few months ago.

 

When Ashavett isn’t attending class, hitting the books, or spending time with her kids, she works as a cashier at DI. Meeting the different people who shop at DI is one of her favorite things. 

 

“I love the customers. I have regular customers who come through my line, and they brighten my day,” says Ashavett. “It’s like a big community here.”
