After working in a temporary position on the production line at a pasta mill, Adam began a new job as a DI associate five months ago. His purpose in coming to DI was to gain additional work experience and better prepare for future educational and career opportunities.
Adam loves working on cars and has a goal to become a mechanic. He plans to attend Davis Technical College while employed at DI so that he can receive the tuition assistance offered to associates.
In the meantime, Adam is focused on how he can improve himself in his current role and has noticed several positive changes during his five months at DI.
“I feel like I work with others a lot better,” Adam says. “I’m a do-it-myself kind of person, but here, we work as a team. I’m more willing to let people help me.”
Adam credits his fellow associates and job coaches for enabling him to develop important skills. He also appreciates the goal-oriented mindset that cultivates personal growth.
“It's a good job and a safe environment,” Adam says. “We have job coaches who you can talk to about personal struggles that you can work on. You don’t have to worry about them getting mad—they’re just helping to push you toward what you want to be.”
