Learning in the Fast Lane with DI Associate Tommy

Tommy is flourishing in his role as a DI associate. He is growing daily, is excited to take on challenges, and likes proving that he can work quickly and efficiently.

“I came to Deseret Industries because I was looking for a place that could support me and help me reach my personal goals,” Tommy says. “I have a place to work that helps me learn, and I am becoming a better employee.”

Tommy is one of the many associates receiving job training at Deseret Industries. Each year, thousands of associates gain valuable experience and develop important job skills and behaviors that prepare them for future jobs and allow them to create better lives for themselves.

“The DI job training program has taught me to be a good team player, to follow through with the work I have been assigned, and to always be nice,” Tommy says. “I am remembering the things I learn each week and applying them to my work.”

As Tommy has grown in his role, his confidence has increased, and he is becoming a more valuable team member.

“The staff is happy that I am here,” Tommy says. “I am good at quickly and diligently getting work done, no matter what assignment I am given.”

Tommy has never struggled to work fast, but he has seen the quality of his work increase thanks to the help of his job coach and the training program.

“I have learned that it is good to be fast, but only if you are fast and accurate,” Tommy says.

For Tommy, Deseret Industries is not just a place to work—it is also a place to make connections and build relationships.

“What I love the most about working here is that some of my coworkers have become like family to me,” Tommy says. “We have fun working together. We try our best to help each other.”
