While working at a local retail store, Manal decided she wanted to become a certified nursing assistant (CNA). However, she faced a roadblock when she couldn’t get the flexibility needed to complete her training while employed. 

That’s when she learned about Deseret Industries. 

“My aunt told me, ‘If you go to DI, the people can help you, and you can study,’” Manal recalls. 

Manal has now been enrolled in the DI job training program for more than a year, allowing her to complete a CNA program while gaining valuable work experience. 

“I hope to get a good job,” Manal says. “Once I get a good job, I may get an MBA. I want to build myself.” 

Manal’s desire to grow is evident in how she approaches her work at Deseret Industries. While in DI’s job training program, she has learned important workplace behaviors, strengthened her skills, and even received a cashiering certification. 

“Working at DI is a good opportunity,” Manal says. “I have gained a lot of experience.”

Manal is now leveraging that experience to open doors to new employment opportunities. She has participated in a job search class through Employment Services, met with a development counselor, and sought guidance from her supervisor. 

“The support staff is excellent,” she says. “If I don't know something, I ask, and they help me. The people here are very good and very kind.” 

Manal’s favorite part of working at Deseret Industries is connecting with her coworkers, but she says the best part has been the personal and professional growth. 

“I am very happy,” Manal says. “I see how I have changed my life. That's why I like Deseret Industries so much.”
