I was having a very difficult time in my life when I first came to Deseret Industries. Having experienced a bad marriage and a divorce, I found myself a single mom with young children. I struggled to make ends meet and knew I needed improved skills to successfully provide for myself and my children. Even with this awareness, however, my personal struggles managed to pull me away from my training for a time.
When I returned to DI, I was committed, with an attitude to move forward and really succeed. After several months of hard work, a golden opportunity came my way. I was offered a business partnership. This is where Deseret Industries teams with a local business in my behalf. DI pays my wages while I prove myself and gain on-the-job experience.
My business partnership was at a local florist shop, where I could showcase my talents in art and design. When my boss was away, I used my training from Deseret Industries to run the store. Both my natural ability and my job skills impressed my employer. I was offered a job. We are both happy we have found each other. Onward and upward is my goal. My life will never be the same again.
