When I came to the United States, one of my friends told me about the Deseret Industries training program and how I could work while I studied English. Learning English was very important to me. After I received permission to work, I went to the Humanitarian Center, which is a division of Deseret Industries. A friend who spoke English well came with me to help.
I began working at the Humanitarian Center and met many kind people. After three months, I began to study English with two sister missionaries. Slowly I began to learn, word-by-word. I was then told that Deseret Industries would help pay for me to go to college to study. At first I wanted to go, but I decided to keep studying English for a while longer at the center. Two months later, my English was so good that I was ready to apply for a job.
I was taught how to create a resume and what to do in a job interview. I applied for a job at a bank. After a few days had passed, the bank invited me to come for an interview. My interview went well, and I got the job!
