By the time I was enrolled in the Deseret Industries training program, I had been out of work for a year and a half. I didn't have much hope and was feeling very depressed. As the development team met with me to assist in implementing a plan, I began to think I could move forward and felt hope for my future return. As I began working and assuming responsibility, I immediately began feeling my self-worth return.
While I worked on the sales floor, I was given the opportunity to take an off-site computer course and college courses. I was then offered a business partnership with an organization that assists refugees. For approximately eight weeks, I worked hard and learned everything I could about the organization. At the end of the business partnership, I was hired as an intake coordinator.
I cannot believe the change that I went through in the short five months I spent in the DI training program. In the state I was in, I could not have made the physical, mental, vocational, and spiritual changes I did without the support of Deseret Industries. I learned so many things, and I will be eternally grateful for the assistance they provided me. I do not know where I would be without them. Wonderful program!
