I immigrated to the United States from Albania to be with my two daughters who were attending school here. In my search for work, I was referred to the LDS employment center by a cashier at a local store. I timidly entered the employment center and was greeted by a service missionary, who said, “Hello, how may we help you?” This was the beginning of many miracles in my life.
In a very short time, I was registered on LDSJobs.org, introduced to the Deseret Industries program, and had begun to make new friends who introduced me to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I am amazed by the training and development Deseret Industries provides on a daily basis. Through my experience at DI, I have improved my English and customer service skills, trained as a cashier, learned about clothing retail, and enrolled in accounting classes at the technical college.
During my experience at Deseret Industries, I gained something else of even greater importance. I noticed the sincere and patient help the staff offered to each associate and a special spirit that existed among the employees. I felt there must be a reason, but I did not understand why. I began taking the missionary discussions and attending meetings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was baptized into the Church and a whole new world was opened to me. I sometimes feel like I am flying because I am so happy. This is the most important blessing that has come to me.
