It is difficult to define someone using a single word, but “creative” sums up Emmit pretty well. His current hobbies include writing stories and building a car, and his artistic passions have influenced his career ambitions.

“I want to be a movie director,” Emmit says. “I want to make the best film I possibly can.”

To work towards this goal, Emmit enrolled in the DI job training program after learning that DI could help pay for additional education. What he discovered, however, is that education assistance wasn’t the only resource available to him.

“They are [helping me get] my driver’s license, they have counseling, and they offer job training,” Emmit says. “When I’m done here, I’ll be able to take a few good steps in the right direction.”

Emmit has been trained in every area of the store and is confident that his experience has prepared him for a wide variety of jobs. Best of all, he has seen how his time at DI has furthered his progress toward his career goals.

“I naturally fall into the leadership position when the leads are not around,” Emmit says. “I’ve learned how to be a better leader, how to listen better, and how to pay attention a little bit more.”
