I am a single mother of four children who has found hope through the Deseret Industries training program. A referral to DI has changed me and turned my challenges into opportunities.

Fleeing from a bad situation, I sought shelter for myself and my four children at the women’s shelter. I was broken and had lost hope for my future and confidence in myself and my abilities. My bishop gave me a referral to Deseret Industries. Then, with the help, love, and support of my bishop, job coaches, and development specialists, I slowly started to regain what I had lost.

My advisors at Deseret Industries encouraged me to seek higher education and helped me pay for and complete my associate’s degree in criminal justice, something I had given up on. Then too, I was made a lead to others in the program, which helped me to stretch even further in building my confidence and abilities. The experience I had at DI helped me renew the love for people I thought I had lost.

This program saved my life and gave me purpose. To help other survivors of domestic violence, I plan to continue college and receive a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. I thank God for blessing my life through Deseret Industries.
