I had just graduated and wanted to find a good job. I had my education, but I had no experience. After looking for a job for almost a year, my bishop recommended I work at Deseret Industries.

At Deseret Industries, I not only received experience working in a retail environment, but I received hands-on training for skills that I needed to master. I became cashier trained, learned proper sales floor etiquette, and received customer service experience. My job coach worked with me like a mentor, helping me set goals and benchmarks, and providing me with the resources I needed to achieve my goals. When I had some challenges to overcome, like becoming easily distracted, my job coach was there to help me with that as well.

Deseret Industries has made a big difference in my life. This experience has helped me become more serious about work and more confident in myself. I am more dedicated and responsible. I have learned what to wear to work and how to serve my customers. I used to be shy, now I use my new self-confidence to overcome my challenges. 

The hard work has been worth it. I can take my new skills with me to any job. I thank my job coach for helping me learn all that I needed to learn. I am especially grateful to a loving Heavenly Father who blessed me with the strength and opportunity to grow through my DI experience.
