I had just moved from the East Coast and was looking for a job when I found the experience I needed through Deseret Industries. For the past year, I was provided the training I really wanted in cashiering. I also knew I needed help with being more patient, changing tasks effectively, and being a better team player. With support from my job coach I began to improve. The staff at DI and my mentor were also there to help me.
My training at Deseret Industries taught me that I am a lot more capable than I have given myself credit for in the past. I am a good worker and should be proud of the employee I have become. During difficult times, my job coach and co-workers have helped me learn how to de-stress, keep calm, and accept change. Because of their support, I am also more social now and feel that my life is moving forward.
Since I have been at Deseret Industries I have grown in confidence. I feel that I would not have been able to go out and interview to get another job if I would not have had the confidence boost that I received from working at DI. I was able to get a job working at a local retail store and know that I will be a success. I will really miss all of my co-workers, my job coach, and the missionaries that I worked with. I am very grateful for their friendship and help.
